Google is adding more inline links, a dedicated official-websites section, visual news carousels and clickable creator profiles to AI Mode and AI Overviews.

What is changing

Google is updating its AI search features, AI Mode and AI Overviews, so users can more easily move from an answer to the websites, news and creators behind it. The most visible changes are more links inside the text of answers, a separate block with official websites, visual news carousels, and creator profiles that open with one click.

Google says these changes are meant to make finding information faster and more visual.

Inline links in the text

Google calls these inline links. They are words or phrases in an AI answer that you can click to open the source and learn more about the topic.

The company says there are more of these links now, and they appear higher in responses more often, so key sources are easier to reach when you need them.

Official websites in a separate block

For some queries, there are only one or two official websites where you can complete a specific task or find exact information. Google is testing a new display that shows these links at the top of a response.

Each link comes with a short note explaining why it is useful.

News and articles

Google is rolling out its carousels of timely articles in AI Search to more countries and languages. These carousels also highlight your Preferred Sources, the websites you choose as favorites.

According to Google, the number of people using the Preferred Sources feature has grown more than 7 times since the start of the year.

Creator profiles for videos

Google has started testing clickable creator and publisher names in video results in AI Mode. Tapping a name opens their Search profile, where you can learn more about their work.

Eligible creators and publishers can find out how to set up these profiles.

Why it matters for everyday users

If you want to check where an AI answer comes from, you can now do it with fewer steps. The links are more prominent, and sources are easier to find.

Google says it will keep refining these features based on what works best.
