What the Trend Is About

A trend called “five things I always say” has spread on social media. Users ask ChatGPT to name five things that, based on its answers, it most often hears from them or “knows” about them. The idea is to see how the chatbot views its conversation partner.

Perhaps the most interesting part of this trend is that the answers can show how well the chatbot remembers previous conversations. That is why it is called “peeking into your chats.”

What to Do About It

If you want to join the trend, keep one simple thing in mind: anything you write to a chatbot may be saved in your conversation history and used to answer you better. Do not share passwords, document numbers, bank details, or other personal information in the chat that you would not want in other people's hands.

In ChatGPT settings, you can review saved memory, delete individual entries, or turn off the memory feature. To find the current options, go to the settings section of the app or website.
